Qlassik is one of those themes that has a little bit of everything; and that means it is powerful yet functional. As an aside, if all you are looking for is to blog and post some photos then Qlassik is way too functional for that. But if you want a business or portfolio theme that has a nice clean look and is open and inviting, Qlassik Theme may be what you are looking for.

The landing page is where Qlassik Theme really brings things to the forefront. There is seamless integration between the header, the lightbox slider, and the main content area. This makes for easy eye progression as readers aren’t subconsciously breaking your content into boxes.

The header, navigation bar features your logo right in the middle of the layout. So as visitors are navigating your site, your brand is always in the forefront of their mind. The thing that you will most notice is the wide, background swath which funnels visitors eyes to the lightbox; additionally, there are multiple color options for that swath, from green to purple.

Below the swath and the lightbox begins the main content area. This is where Qlassik can help you feature products and services, as well as customer testimonials. Displayed in a mini-grid type of fashion there isn’t much of anything that you will not be able to showcase here. Below the main mini-grid, there is a large 2/3 column sized shout-out box for your customers testimonials. Additionally there is also a spot to showcase videos; whether those are interviews, customer testimonials, how-to videos or even video diaries of past and ongoing projects. Below this area is the widgetized footer. This is the first instance where there is not seamless integration, as the footer is the same color as the swath at that the top of the page.

Beyond this page, there is the separate blog function, with a sidebar area, a portfolio page layout and many more options.

Trending with great flexibility in site design, Rewrite Theme provides a responsive theme that will ensure that your site is viewable with any device you may have. One of the great features of this theme is that both images and embedded videos scale according to the size of the screen. It also provides dropdown menus regardless of screen size. Which makes this the perfect theme for any site that get a lot of traffic from a wide variety of different devices.

Simplicity and cleanliness is a hallmark of Rewrite Theme. The header is flexible enough in that it allows your header navigation bar to always be present at the top of the page. Shortcodes are also responsive so that your formatting stays the way you want it to: whether that be block-quoting or call-out boxes.

Another great feature is that when you upload multiple photos to your post, Rewrite Theme will wrap them in a nice gallery with scrollbar navigation. It is recommended that you use images of the same size, and the theme will automatically resize and scale them accordingly.

Rewrite Theme isn’t for everyone as it has a feel that resembles Tumblr in some cases. But if you want to use it as a minimalistic blog theme or a light-weight, non-gaudy portfolio that can be viewed from any device, then Rewrite Theme will probably work for you.

Standard is a theme for almost any need. Use it as a minimalistic portfolio, trendy business theme, or a personal blog. More of a lightweight framework, than a dedicated theme, Standard allows that user to create a theme they want, without knowing a ton of code. The back-end administrator panel is where all of the action is packaged. But even right out the box, Standard offers a great, turn-key design that will fit many needs.

As the power of Standard is actually in its coded framework talking about those features would probably be better than talking about what features the main pages has, or how the page just looks great. The reason? With the coded framework and the multitude of options, it is hard to say exactly what the Standard theme looks like. It will reflect the personalities and the desires of the person that is creating the site at the time.

The header is a great basic header. Not too much going on, A navigation bar, Logo, and ad space; but with just the change of an option in the backend it is super easy to change the navigation bar for above the header, to below the header. Also, with this theme’s built in social media integration, it is easy to add icons to your navigation bar. Just add your username to the fields in the backend, and the corresponding icon will appear in the navigation bar. This is more than Twitter and Facebook integration. There are more than 10 coded integration buttons, to include Linkedin and Feedburner, that are easily placed with large icons where you want them most.

Another great option, especially if you are a freelancer, or you are looking at becoming a freelancer, is the author box. It’s already coded and with the use of a widget it makes it easy to highlight and frame your about you. As money makes this world go round, Standard comes equipped with great ad support, in the form of widgets. In the admin panel, just add the links to the ads you want from your favorite ad service, go to the widget section, add the widget to the sidebar, and you are up and running.

Pure Elegance is one of those themes that just make you want to fall in love. Its simple, pleasant layout reminds you of a time when the flowers always bloomed. The cursive styled lettering is reminiscent of the girl (or guy) that slipped away into this great adventure called life. Left with only memories, time is the only absolute in whether your paths will cross. But, you will always have Chicago; Right? Class, distinction and elegance are the bedrock of this theme, and it is a great platform to use as the base for your professional portfolio.

Flowery words and hyperbole aside, Pure Elegance, provides an outstanding content management system on the stable Genesis Framework. The Pure Elegance theme is not a stand-alone theme in the traditional sense. Where most themes come pre-packaged with the underlying framework of its creators already incorporated into the theme, Pure Elegance is actually a child theme that runs off the Genesis parent framework. The downside of this is that in order for Pure Elegance to work, you must have already purchased the Genesis framework.

Despite that limitation, for someone looking for a classy, sophisticated portfolio theme, this child theme delivers in all respects. A large featured images section provides a nice and subtle change to the standard portfolio design. Highlight that key picture, be it a wedding photograph or that of a nature scene, in an above-the-fold “look at me” design. As one moves down the page, more content areas open up to display latest work, or just your attempt at capturing the human condition.

As elegance is the overall theme of this, for lack of a better word, theme, sidebars have been completely left out of the full page width design However, there is a widgetized footer that can be used to provide basic information such as, contact info, latest tweets, mailing list, or whatever you wish to display.

It should be noted that lack of ad space is a necessity to make this portfolio theme work and the uncluttered simple header, does not look like something you would see in a train wreck. However, the Genesis framework does allow for the ability to go away from the full-width page layout for the more tradition sidebar-content or any other type of layout you may desire. Continuing the note, doing so will diminish the elegance of this already great child theme.

When it comes down to it, if your goal is to create an email list, why settle for a theme that only has a widgetized area for your subscription service? StudioPress offers a great child theme, built on the Genesis framework, called Generate. It’s designed to generate high numbers of email leads, by giving users an easy to subscribe opt-in box at the top of the header, there will be no mistaking what the goal of your site is when users land on the page.

Not a marketer? That’s fine too as Generate can be used to create a database for all kinds of organizations including political action groups, knitting groups, alumni services, contest’s and whatever else you decide.

Generate theme use can be talked about at length, but often times; the layout is more important than the functionality. The first thing that anyone will notice is the huge opt-in box at the top of the page. Add some custom text to tell your viewers what action you want them to take and you are on your way to having a great database. This is great if you are looking for a simple way to get people to opt-in to your site. Additionally each post within the site, has an opt-in box so you are getting the most subscribers to your list possible.

After the huge opt-in box as you scroll down the site, the main content area begins, complete with a widgetized sidebar, so you can integrate your latest tweets, ads, or whatever else you may decide. The content area is set up in a typical grid based magazine style layout to help organize content. Although the design is simple, it’s goal is to get those all-important leads. And in most cases, simplicity cannot be taken to mean less powerful.

Some other features that are standard with the Generate theme, because of the Genesis framework are multiple layout options for sidebars, a few different color schemes so that you can match something closer to your brand, page templates and multiple column page layouts.

As far as business themes are concerned Inspire by WooThemes, provides a great platform to launch your product line. The massive jQuery slider hosts a product spotlight pane that allows your visitors the chance to view your product, in addition to panes that can be used to feature content that you want to get out to your visitors.

The jQuery slider isn’t your typical little box that you throw a picture into and call it featured. It is a full page-width across, with pagination, which allows for click navigation. Your viewers will not need to wait for the slide to come back around. Additionally, the product spotlight pane has functionality for you to display your product with built in buttons that link to a demo page and a pricing list. Not a bad idea, if you are trying to sell an app, theme, or service.

Below the slider is a large area dedicated to mini-features, which allow you to highlight content that you may see as crucial to your endeavor. All of the mini-features link to a dedicated page so you can highlight whatever you wish to highlight. Additionally, there is a dedicated spot, solely for client feedback. If people are happy with your work, their satisfaction can forever be immortalized on your page.

The Inspire theme main page layout does not have the option for a sidebar. So to make up for the deficit, WooThemes has created an extended, widgetized footer. With the WooNews widget, you can give a listing of the recent blog posts on your site.

In addition to the separate blog section, portfolio section and extensive WooFramework (shortcodes, analytics output in the header, and much more) the Inspire theme also is the platform as a parent theme for a WooCommerce child theme. All one needs to set up shop is the child-theme and the WooCommerce plugin available in the WordPress plugin repository.

Overall, the Inspire theme is a great platform to launch and showcase your business model and create for your visitors an open, inviting environment.

If you are looking for a minimalistic theme, keep looking, because Aggregate is not the theme for you. However, if you are looking for a powerful, feature rich, magazine style theme with an awesome slider that encompasses the above-the-fold landing page, this may be the theme you want.

The first thing you notice when coming to a site that has Aggregate theme is the huge content slider. Use it as a portfolio or to highlight featured stories, but either way, add something catchy to keep people on the page. The slider with the large images is complimented with a thumbnail preview below the pane.

As one makes their way down the page this is where the power of Aggregate theme starts to show. Designed as a CMS to deliver and “aggregate” all of your content on a single page, Aggregate theme provides an outstanding platform to organize everything you need to show by taking the “Recent Posts” concept to the next level by highlighting posts from recently updated categories.

Below-the-fold the main distribution of content begins to take shape, with a recent posts area (not category specific), widgetized sidebar and footer, as well as plenty of great features, including a popular posts section, recent comments area, and a place for videos.

Additionally, custom built-in short codes give you an easy way to manage typography to create stunning content and complex layouts with only a few clicks. The drop caps shortcode will allow you to emulate print media, testimonials will highlight your strengths and customer satisfactions, and content boxes create a pull quote effect which highlights specific information you want your readers to digest.

In addition to all of these great features on the landing page monetizing your site becomes easy with the ad ready functionality of 728×90 and 468×60 banners, plus the 125×125 button ads that are in most sidebars. Page templates allow you to create a standard blog layout and with integration of social media, Aggregate will allow your followers to stay connected to your site wherever they may be.

Aggregate theme is powerful, functional and a great platform to disseminate content and information in all mediums.

Feather is one of those great WordPress themes that combine an open and inviting landing page, with extreme functionality. Although on the surface, Feather may appear simple, the design is actually very functional and subtlety complex.

On the landing page resides an auto slider with the ability to embed Youtube videos within the slider as well as showcase other content. There is a feature section to highlight and draw attention to certain pages within your site; perhaps, you want to show off your team, highlight a product or even just have a page with your contact information. With a dedicated area, it will be easy to get your message out in a great and amazingly easily layout.

To continue on about the landing page, there is a recent blog area that ties in with the standalone blog section of the site, and allows you to keep your visitors up to date on all of the latest happenings. There is also a recent work area that highlights your portfolio and shows your visitor’s your work from the second they land on your page.

Rounding out the landing page is the widgetized footer. The landing page does not have a sidebar so this widgetized area is the only place that widgets can be placed. There are also many options for navigation as there is a navigation bar at the top of the page, as well as one in the footer.

However, that is not all Feather has to offer. Custom page templates such as sitemap, member login, advanced search, portfolio, a contact page and a few other, provide a ton of layout options to help you create the site that you want.

With additional shortcode capabilities above the WordPress core, the Feather theme shortcodes allow you to create buttons and icons without knowing any markup yourself. The codes are already embedded in the editor interface and makes creating buttons, context boxes, and toggled content areas a breeze. Add to that, the standard Twitter / Facebook integration; ad ready layout and compatibility with most major browsers and Feather theme can become a great platform to showcase your company’s capabilities.
